QUEZON CITY, 6 April (PIA) --- A project proposal that will use organisms to remove or neutralize pollutants from a contaminated site has been recently presented to the Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC).
Mr. Jürgen Saeger, Phd, PRRC environment consultant proposed a project that will use bioremediation technology to thoroughly rehabilitate and clean up the two interconnected and interacting bodies of water- the Pasig River and the Manila Bay.
Bioremediation is a waste management or treatment that involves the use of organisms to remove or neutralize pollutants from a contaminated site.
During a meeting held Tuesday (April 5) at the PRRC Conference Hall, Saeger submitted the project proposal entitled "Cleanup of Pasig River and of coastal waters of Manila Bay" with four of phases of implementation that include Laguna de Bay, rivers, creeks, and Manila Bay.
Saeger said the proposed project is approximately pegged at USD 20 Million excluding operational cost for personnel, fuel for generators and electricity.
