QUEZON CITY, March 10 (PIA)--Mayor Joy Belmonte announced that two new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-2019) have been reported by the Department of Health (DOH) in Quezon City on Monday evening, bringing the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the city to three.
Belmonte said the second case involves a 34-year-old male, who is currently confined in a private hospital outside of Quezon City.
"The Quezon City Health Department has already supervised disinfection activities inside the building where he resided and will begin contact tracing Tuesdsay,” said Belmonte.
The third case is a 52-year-old male from Project 6 with a travel history to Switzerland. As of this writing, Belmonte said City Health officials are still trying to locate his exact address.
On Monday morning, the DOH disclosed the first Covid-19 case in Quezon City involving a 57-year-old man from District 1 who had no recent travel history. Positive cases have also been identified in San Juan, Taguig, Pasig, Marikina, Manila and Makati.
During a meeting with President Duterte in Malacanang, Belmonte said Metro Manila mayors decided to work together and assist one another in doing contact tracing since all 17 local government units are part of a “single cluster” or “community" with the number of positive cases now up to 24.
The Metro Manila Council consisting of the 17 NCR mayors are also met Tuesday morning at the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) office and tackled guidelines to be adopted in their efforts against Covid-19. (PIA-NCR)
