CALOOCAN CITY, June 14 (PIA) -- The first ever virtual forum for Patriotism, Call of Duty and Commitment to the Filipino was conducted simultaneously and attended by the 56 Metro Manila Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Chairperson and Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo Regional (KKDAT) Officers via Zoom Conference.
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) welcomed KKDAT Regional President and SK Federation President of Navotas, Hon. Jodile Cañete.
Meanwhile, nationwide youth leaders were able to meet via online platform in order to ensure adherence to health and safety protocols.
The program started with briefings on gender and development, anti-terrorism, anti-criminality and anti-illegal drug campaigns in Metro Manila.
Through video presentations and testimonies from former members of Anakbayan, a militant left-wing youth organization, the participants were enlightened about the "true intentions" of leftists groups operating in the country.
Among those who delivered their testimonies of "freeing themselves from delusions and lies of Anakbayan" were: Joy James "Ka Amihan" Saguino from Mindanao; Christian "Ka Chan-Chan" Sabado from Visayas; and Ivy Lyn "Ka Ivy" Corpin from Luzon.
Thereafter, different non-government organizations conveyed their commitment towards solidarity.
Said groups were represented by Crispin A Tandog Jr of Hugbong Obrero, Inc; Gemma Labsan of Hands Off Our Children Movement; Relissa Santos Lucena of Yakap ng Magulang, Inc; Ernie Alcanzare of Yes for Peace and Lolita O. De Jesus of Samakka Bayan.
On the other hand, KKDAT from Cebu; Kabataang Makadagat; Supreme Student Council Society of the Philippines; The Youth for Peace and Development Movement Philippines; Mindanao Inter-Muslim Youth Organization; Mandaya Tribal, Youth for Peace-Northern Luzon Chapter and KKDAT NCR signed a Covenant and Pledge of Commitment which became the highlights of the event.
Consequently, KKDAT officers also delivered a message of condemnation regarding the killings of the Absalon cousins by reported members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) recently.
According to them, today's youth leaders are devoted to human rights and believe that the continuous killings and act of violence to unarmed civilians, non-combatants and unprotected persons in situations of armed conflict shall be put to an end.
"As these terrorist groups kill thousand of lives, our nation gradually dies. In these trying times, we are calling the attention of all Filipino people to unite and condemn the atrocities and the flawed ideology by these communist terrorist groups. We believe that justice exists and it shall be served," they said.
PCol Julius C. Suriben Jr. expressed his gratitude towards the KKDAT Officers for all their active participation and unwavering support of NCRPO's endeavour towards a peaceful community.
In his message, PMGen Vicente D. Danao Jr. acknowledged that the youth is the country's hope for a more peaceful, orderly future that is free from violence and human rights violation committed by communist terrorist groups.
Danao was looking forward that the leaders will continue to support the plans and programs of the Metro Manila police for them.
"Nawa'y ipagpatuloy ninyo ang pagsuporta sa amin at marami pang aktibidad ang ating pagsamahan sapagkat kayo ay may mahalagang gampanin at maitutulong para sa ating bayan," he said. (PIA NCR)
