PASIG CITY, (PIA) -- Personnel from the Manila Police District (MPD) nabbed two people in Quiapo, Manila for allegedly manufacturing and selling fake vaccination cards and negative swab test results for COVID-19.
“I commend the Manila Police District for its successful operation that resulted in the arrest of two people who are behind the manufacture and selling of fake vaccination cards and RT-PCR test result in Quiapo,” said Philippine National Police chief PGen Guillermo Eleazar.
According to the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), the operation stemmed from the intelligence report about a shop in Quiapo which has been selling fake vaccination cards and negative results for RT-PCR.
Operatives discovered computers used to fake the documents and the template for the fake swab test results from San Lazaro Hospital and vaccination cards from Pasay City.
The raiding MPD team also found some fake dry seal of universities and government agencies. Authorities also alleged that the suspects were into making fake birth certificates and marriage contracts.
The suspects were taken to the MPD headquarters and are now facing appropriate criminal charges.
Meanwhile, the Manila police continue to hunt for individuals who are also doing this illegal activity amid the pandemic.
“Inaasahan ko ang patuloy na agresibong kampanya ng ating kapulisan hindi lamang laban sa mga taong gumagawa at nagbebenta ng mga pekeng vaccination cards at RT-PCR kundi pati na rin sa mga taong bumibili at gumagamit ng mga ito,” said the PNP chief. (NCRPO/PIA-NCR)
