PNP to hire 18K new police officers

CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has approved the recruitment of 18,172 new police officers. 

Under Napolcom Resolution 2022-0050, approved by DILG Secretary and Napolcom Chairperson Eduardo M. Año, the Philippine National Police (PNP) has been authorized to recruit 1,000 new patrolmen and patrolwomen for regular recruitment, and 17,179 for attrition recruitment. 

This is to fill the positions of police officers who have been removed, died, resigned or retired. 

Most are reserved for the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) with 7,319 followed by Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF)/Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) Integrees with 1,460. 

The quota is 800 in Police Regional Office (PRO) 3 or Central Luzon, and 600 each in PRO 7 or Central Visayas, PRO 8 or Eastern Visayas and PRO 13 or CARAGA Region. 

Meanwhile, the PNP Maritime Group has the largest allocation to National Support Units at 600 positions, followed by the PNP Health Service at 400. (PIA-NCR)
