Marikina signs ordinance adopting children’s code

MARIKINA CITY, (PIA) — To culminate the 32nd National Children’s Month celebration, Marikina City recently signed an ordinance adopting the city’s children’s code.

Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro signed Ordinance No. 74, series of 2024 or the “Ordinance Adopting the 2024 Children’s Code of Marikina City.”

The City of Marikina stands with the State as “Parens Patriae or ‘parents of the nation’ and recognizes as much the honored duty to update and enhance its local laws in accordance with the national and international standards, policies and frameworks to better serve the best interests of children within its jurisdiction,” the ordinance states.

According to the city government, the ordinance hopes to strengthen the city’s campaign to continuously promote and protect the rights of Marikina children and youth. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
