MARIKINA CITY, (PIA) — Aiming for a healthier, bike and pedestrian-friendly City, Marikina City has launched the Car-Free Sundays.
Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro led the launch along Gil Fernando Ave’s extension. Car-Free Sundays take place from 6:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
Aside from an additional place in the city where the people of Marikina can bike, walk, or jog, they can also get a glimpse of a mural of famous places, characters, and personalities in the history of Marikina created by local talents. Visitors can also enjoy sumptuous meals at local restaurants in the area.
In 2014, Marikina City issued Ordinance No. 61 or the 2014 Bicycle Code of Marikina City, which aims to protect and promote the people’s health, instill health consciousness, and advance the people’s right to a balanced and healthful ecology. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
