House-to-house distribution of meds in Taguig

TAGUIG CITY, 4 July (PIA) – Medicines right at your doorstep. The city government of Taguig is conducting a house-to-house distribution of maintenance medicines to its constituents suffering from diabetes, hypertension and asthma for the second quarter of the year.

“Looking after the health of Taguigenos remains a priority of the city government. We will continue to institute reforms in the public health sector to show our commitment in translating the progress we have in Taguig into concrete programs in social services for our people,” Mayor Lani Cayetano said.

The maintenance medicines distribution program is a product of the findings made by the Taguig City Integrated Survey System (TCISS).

The TCISS, in coordination with the Taguig City Health Office, will be distributing packs of diabetes maintenance medicines such as Metformin, Gliclazide, Glibenclamide and Glimeperide.

Hypertension medicines containing Metoprolol (tartate), Losartan, Amlodipine (besilate), Nifedipine and Clonidine (hydrochloride) will also be distributed along with packs of Salbutamol tablets, syrup, nebules and inhalers for asthma patients.

The TCISS is an innovative survey system which was carried out in the form of a house-to-house census using a questionnaire divided into three tranches, echoing Mayor Lani’s aim of delivering meaningful services and programs right at her constituents’ doorstep.

Surveys are done to all homes in Taguig, providing basic demographics and profiles of the tenants that included the medical attention needed with accurate figures.

“With this detailed and exhaustive survey, the city government has been able to extend all the necessary help and assistance to the different sectors of Taguig,” Cayetano explained.

Last February, the TCISS distributed maintenance medicines to 12,726 beneficiaries with asthma, hypertension and diabetes. (TAGUIG/RJB/JEGPIA-NCR)
