MANDALUYONG CITY, 13 Feb. (PIA) -- PhilHealth has formally inked an agreement with the Senate of the Philippines and the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to intensify information dissemination on the National Health Insurance Program.
Under the agreement, signed during PhilHealth's 20th anniversary program and press conference held at EDSA SHANGRI-LA Hotel in Mandaluyong City, both the Senate and PCSO will provide venues that will serve as off-site PhilHealth offices, as well as personnel that will assist all walk-in clients.
Senate President Franklin Drilon who was the guest-of-honor during the event and signed the agreement in behalf of the Senate of the Philippines said, "Our goal is to provide PhilHealth for every citizen of this country."
DOH Acting Secretary Janette Loreto-Garin, in her message read by Dr. Gerry Bayugoy, said that the promise to the poor of finally being able to avail of healthcare without pulling from the pocket is now within reach.
The off-site offices will provide frontline assistance such as membership verification and status updates of claim refunds while acceptance of PhilHealth Member Registration Forms, will initially be implemented at the Senate.
During the event, PhilHealth's commemorative medal and stamp were also unveiled. The commemorative medal, made by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), is made of 89% copper, 5% zinc, 1% tin, 34 millimetres in diameter, and weighs 15 grams. Inscribed in the medal's obverse side is '20 years' representing PhilHealth's 20th year of providing every Filipino family with financial protection against health risks. The number '0' is represented by clasping hands of people from all walks of life, symbolizing Philhealth's universality,and articulating the anniversary theme.
The special postage stamp, on the other hand, measures 30mm x 40mm and is designed with a vibrant, multi-colored pattern that symbolizes PhilHealth's dynamic initiatives in fulfilling its mandate of universal coverage and ensuring responsive benefits for its members. It also stands for PhilHealth's strong partnership with health care service delivery providers.
A nationwide simultaneous run, second in PhilHealth history, will be held on Sunday (February 15) in 13 sites all over the country to serve as one of the highlights of the agency's 20th anniversary. The Quezon City leg will be held at the Quezon Memorial Circle while other sites include Baguio, Dagupan, Tuguegarao, Naga, Lipa, Lucena, Iloilo, Cebu, Tacloban, Davao, Koronadal, and Subic.
