FEATURE: New mobile phone application gives free access to popular websites

QUEZON CITY, 19 March (PIA) -- Facebook led Internet.org was recently launched in the country to bring together technology leaders, nonprofit organizations, and local communities to connect the two thirds of the world that don't have access to the internet.

People behind Internet.org recognizes the fact that only 1 out of 3 people in the world can go online because of many factors like too expensive gadgets, expensive data plans, and too few mobile networks to accomodate everyone's needs.  

And by pooling together their resources and best practices, the Internet.org team and participants hope to remove the  barriers to give the unconnected majority of the world the power to connect.  

Here in the Philippines,Internet.org can be accessed by using any SMART OR SUN Cellular simcard and will allow you to have basic access websites like AccuWeather, Airtel, eZeLibrary, Facebook, Facts for Life, Google Search, Go Zambia Jobs, Kokoliko, MAMA (Mobile Alliance for Maternal Action), Messenger, Wikipedia, WRAPP (Women’s Rights App), Zambia uReport, SuperSport, and Ebola FAQ by UNICEF.
