PASAY CITY, 31 March (PIA)—The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) implements Oplan Ligtas Biyahe to ensure efficient and safe operations at the NAIA Complex this Holy Week.
Help Desks are put in strategic areas at airport terminals to assist passengers and visitors. These desks are manned by the Airport Police, Public Affairs, and Medical Personnel.
Deployment and shifting of personnel have also been enhanced to ensure adequate manning of facilities and efficient airport operations. The MIAA continuously coordinates with the airlines, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), and the Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) regarding schedule and status of flights.
Police and Security personnel deployed in all airport terminals have been augmented in anticipation of the expected influx of travelers. The airport police closely monitors all terminals in coordination with the Office of the Transportation Security, the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group, and local government units.
Manila International Airport Authority General Manager Jose Angel Honrado reminds passengers to be mindful of traffic towards NAIA. He says it will be good to be four hours early for one’s flight.
The MIAA, meanwhile, is coordinating with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the local governments of Pasay and Parañaque in trying to ease traffic in the area.
Honrado adds, to speed up the process in the airport, passengers are advised to remove all items from their clothing especially at the X-ray machines. More importantly, prohibited items should not be brought – including firearms and sharp objects – to avoid any inconvenience.
More than 100,000 passengers have departed from NAIA since Thursday last week. Departures are expected to peak on Holy Wednesday while arrivals are likely to peak on Easter Monday. (MIAA/RJB/SDL/PIA-NCR)
