US Embassy, Alaska Milk Corp. to hold basketball clinic for PWDs

MANILA, June 30 (PIA) – In celebration of the National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week in July, the US Embassy Manila, in partnership with Alaska Milk Corporation, will hold basketball clinic for persons with disabilities (PWDs) on Wednesday, July 1.  

US Ambassador to the Philippines Philip Goldberg and Pasay City Mayor Antonino Calixto will open the event to be held at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.

Around 100 PWDs from Philippine Sports Association of the Differently Abled, Philippine National School for the Deaf, and Philippine National School for the Blind will participate in the event.

The activity aims to further the rights of disabled persons in the Philippines, encourage governments to protect those rights, and to support local advocacy through sports programs.

The clinic also aims to instill the values of teamwork, fair play, friendly competition, and the integration of individual performance with teamwork to reach shared goals. (US EMBASSY MANILA/RJB/JEG/PIA-NCR)
