New Peace Corps volunteers promote US-Phl friendship

MANILA, July 13 (PIA) – Eighty-eight new Peace Corps volunteers recently arrived in the country to work side-by-side with Filipinos to help build better lives in their host communities.

According to the US Embassy Manila, the new volunteers, ranging from 21 to 68 years old, bring diverse experience and a spirited enthusiasm to be serving in the Philippines.

The Peace Corps volunteers will work in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), local government units (LGUs) and non-government organizations (NGOs).

The volunteers will be assigned to live and volunteer in communities throughout the Philippines for two years in the fields of education, youth development and environment.

More than 8,000 Americans have served as Peace Corps volunteers in the Philippines since 1961. (US EMBASSY MANILA/RJB/JEG/PIA-NCR)
