APEC IEC campaign now rolling in MM

QUEZON CITY, 21 October (PIA) – Few weeks before the much-awaited Asia-Pacific Economic (APEC) Leaders’ Meeting on November 18-19, 2015, the Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign has started rolling out in Metro Manila.

The Department of Interior and Local Government-National Capital Region (DILG-NCR), Philippine National Police through the Police Community Relations Group (PNP-PCRG), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) through the Joint Task Force-National Capital Region (JTF-NCR), Civil Relations Service of the AFP (CRS AFP), and the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) on Tuesday launched the rollout of APEC IEC campaign in a ceremony held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Camp Crame in Quezon City.

DILG-NCR Regional Director Maria Lourdes Agustin thanked everyone for their ardent participation in this campaign.

Agustin expressed hope that through the IEC campaign to be carried out to local government units (LGUs), specifically in Pasay, Manila, Parañaque, Makati and Mandaluyong, will eventually gain the support of the community in the momentous APEC event.

Among the IEC campaign materials include brochures, tarpaulins, powerpoint presentation and AVP on APEC which will be distributed to said LGUs wherein APEC events will be held.

PIA Director General Jose Mari M. Oquiñena said that the APEC event is an opportunity to showcase the best of the Philippines and an affirmation, at the same time, that the other nations believe in the capabilities of our nation.

Meanwhile, PNP chief Police Director Ricardo C. Marquez stressed the importance of the IEC campaign noting that it takes an informed community to help the men and women in uniform perform their task in ensuring peace and order during the APEC events.

Marquez praised the people who will be carrying out this IEC campaign stating that they are serving the country in a very special capacity. He noted that the community will also play an integral part that will make the APEC event successful and memorable.

Likewise, BGen Joselito Kakilala of the AFP Civil Relations Service called on the support of everyone and uphold the spirit of ‘bayanihan’ for the success of APEC. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
