QUEZON CITY, Oct. 23 (PIA) – The Metro Manila Council (MMC), which is composed of mayors of Metro Manila, unanimously approved the implementation of the temporary truck ban scheme to give way to the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in November.
According to MMDA Officer-in-Charge Emerson Carlos, the four-day modified truck ban will be on November 17-20, from 6 AM to 10 PM.
The modified scheme along the south truck route will complement the total closures of both lanes of Roxas Boulevard for said dates.
“This will assure the efficient mobility of the APEC delegates in our major thoroughfares, especially in Manila, Pasay and Makati areas where the summit’s major events will take place,” Carlos said.
According to MMDA, affected trucks can use the alternate route from South Luzon Expressway/Cavite Area to Port Area, and vice versa.
From Port of Manila Straight to R10, turn right at C3, left at A. Bonifacio Avenue, take right turning flyover toward Quirino highway, again take right at Mindanao Ave., then left at Congressional Ave., and right at Luzon Ave. straight to Katipunan/C5 to (SLEX/MCX) Destination, and vice versa.
The regular truck ban hours, which are from 6 am to 10 am, and 5 pm to 10 pm, will be reinstated immediately after the APEC Summit. (MMDA/RJB/JEG/PIA-NCR)
