MANILA, 27 January (PIA) – The iconic and first motorcycle company in the U.S., Indian Motorcycle, recently launched its first shop in the Philippines.
The event was graced by U.S. Embassy Manila’s Chargé d’Affaires Michael S. Klecheski, who also welcomed the guests and delivered the opening remarks.
“Indian Motorcycle is an example of what U.S.-made products are known for globally – superior, resilient, and innovative. I am sure that a lot of riders are excited to welcome Indian Motorcycle and are very eager to experience it. It is always fun to ride an Indian and I am sure it will be more fun to do so in the Philippines,” said Klecheski.
Guests were treated in an American barbeque-themed party set against an impressive backdrop display of Indian Motorcycle bikes.
Indian Motorcycle is America’s first motorcycle company, founded in 1901 in Springfield, Massachusetts. During World War I, Indian Motorcycle dedicated much of its production to the war effort by providing the U.S. military with nearly 50,000 motorcycles. During World War II, Indian Motorcycle produced Model 841 for the U.S. Army.
In 2011, Polaris Industries acquired Indian Motorcycle. Manufacturing was relocated to the Polaris production facility in Spirit Lake, Iowa, and engineering was moved primarily to the Polaris Product Development Center in Wyoming, Minnesota. In the Philippines, T.A. Marketing exclusively distributes Indian Motorcycles products.
