QUEZON CITY, 07 April (PIA)--The Quezon City Government, with support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) recently spearheaded the conduct of 2016 e-Bayad Tour caravan to increase public awareness and promote the use of various electronic channels for paying local government and other transactions.

Mayor Herbert M. Bautista said the event is part of the city’s vision towards full automation of payment transactions.

“The innovation is expected to improve transparency, reduce potential leakage of government funds, as well as make a 24-hour tax and fee payment operation possible,” Bautista said.

During the event held at the City Treasurer’s payment lounge, mobile money payment and other electronic payment options were presented to taxpayers, entrepreneurs, and business owners.

Currently, mobile payment scheme through G-cash, is available to real property taxpayers, business taxes and market stall fees which is convenient, since it allows them to pay taxes 24 hours a day/ 7 days a week through their mobile phones. They also get their electronic Official Receipt online as proof of their payments.

Paying through mobile money or G-cash is part of the city government’s goal to provide convenient, fast and secure options for payment of real property taxes as the city government will soon offer online payments and credit card installment payments for taxes and other fees.

Exhibitors at the e-Bayad Tour, which included Gcash/ Mynt, Land Bank and Citibank, assisted participants in signing up to electronic payment accounts, and taught them how to use these options to settle property, business taxes and other fees./PAISO QC/RJB/SDL/PIA-NCR)
