QUEZON CITY, July 1 (PIA) --- The official representatives of the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) urge President Rodrigo Duterte to convene an en banc to discuss the priority agenda of the agency.
NAPC congratulated and welcomed Pres. Duterte as their new Chair and lauded the President's expression of support on key policy issues such as Freedom of Information, end of contractualization, full implementation of the Reproductive Health Law, asset reform and prioritization of the agriculture sector, and strong concern for the protection of the environment.
According to NAPC, they commend Pres. Duterte's conviction for equitable distribution of wealth and decentralization of power which resonates with our call for genuine empowerment.
"We hope to get his support especially on relevant reforms such as Bottom-up Budgeting (BuB). We also urge the new administration to promote and respect human rights, including the rights of women and suspected criminals, in the pursuit of its peace and order agenda," NAPC stated on their release.
NAPC, with its 14 basic sectors, expressed their support to the President as partners for change and good governance.
"Mr. President, we look forward to meeting you at the NAPC En Banc," NAPC stated.
The NAPC SRC is composed of the 14 sectoral representatives. Sectoral Representatives are the elected leaders of the 14 basic sectors, affirmed by presidential appointment. They chair the Sectoral Council and sit as members of the NAPC en banc for a period of three years. In June last year, the Sectoral Representatives elected Ruperto "Ka Uper" Aleroza, a fisherman, as the Vice Chairperson of the NAPC Basic Sectors.
The 14 Basic Sectors are: Artisanal Fisherfolk, Farmers and Landless Rural Workers, Urban Poor, Indigenous Peoples, Formal Labor and Migrant Workers, Workers in the Informal Sector, Women, Children, Youth and Students, Senior Citizens, Persons with Disabilities, Victims of Disasters and Calamities, Non-Government Organizations, and Cooperatives.
