Comelec clarifies SK voters as of July 2016 need not register again

MANILA, Sept. 28 (PIA)--The Commission on Elections (Comelec) clarified that Sangguniang Kabataan voters as of July 2016 do not need to register again in the next round of the continuing registration.   


“Their registration records will be included in the SK database except those who will be thirty-one (31) years old on October 23, 2017,” Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said.   

 The Comelec Spokesperson added that those who have not reached the required voting age or period of residence on the day of registration but will possess such qualifications on or before election day may register as voter.   

 The voters registration period will run from October 3, 2016 to April 29, 2017, Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays, except Nov. 1, December 24, 31, January 1, 2017, and April 13 and 14, 2017.   Both Houses of Congress passed on September 13, 2016 the bill postponing the Barangay and SK polls to October 23, 2017.
