MANILA, Oct. 5 (PIA) – Now, more Filipinos will have the chance to make a difference and contribute to the development of the Philippines as the Australian Embassy in the Philippines announced the extension for application to the prestigious Australia Awards Scholarships on November 30, 2016 (Wednesday).
“Australia Awards is an integral component of our development assistance to the Philippines. The scholarships program employs a unique approach in ensuring that the knowledge and skills scholars acquire in Australia are applied back home,” said Ambassador Amanda Gorely.
The scholarship program provides the opportunity for Filipinos to pursue academic interests through fully-funded scholarships to world-renowned Australian Universities.
Australia Awards scholars gain internationally-recognised qualifications from Australian universities, develop their knowledge and leadership skills, and join a growing international network of alumni with close links to Australia.
Ambassador Gorely explained that returning scholars are required to implement a development project, also called a re-entry action plan or a REAP, in their workplaces or in their chosen beneficiaries, usually local non-profits or non-government organisations.
Since the 1950s, the Australian Government has been offering Filipinos world-class education, leadership opportunities and the potential to meaningfully contribute to the country’s development in the areas of trade and economics, infrastructure development, governance, peace, basic education, human resource management and organisational development, and mining, among others.
The application process is open and competitive, providing equal opportunity to all eligible citizens regardless of gender, ethnicity and disability.
