LTFRB starts Pantawid fuel cards distribution in NCR

QUEZON CITY, Aug. 28 (PIA) – The Department of Transportation and the Land Transportation Franchising & Regulatory Board (LTFRB) today distributed the initial batch of ‘Pantawid Pasada’ fuel cards for Metro Manila public utility jeepney (PUJ) drivers and operators at the Bulwagang Edu, Land Transportation Office main in East Avenue.
The LTFRB said around 179,000 valid PUJ franchise holders nationwide will benefit from the fuel assistance program. Each recipient will receive a Pantawid fuel card from the Landbank containing P5,000 as fuel subsidy for this year.
LTFRB and Landbank officials present during the distribution warned franchise holders that the subsidy is strictly for purchase of diesel fuel only, and the amount should not be used in buying other petroleum-based products such as oils and lubricants.
They said any violation in the use of the card would automatically disqualify the card owner from the Pantawid program and its benefits.
The card is only valid for fuel purchases at participating gasoline stations such as: Petron, Shell, Caltex, Phoenix, Total, Unioil, or any petroleum retail outlets with “Pantawid Pasada Card Accepted Here” sign posted.
Wilfedo Malonzo, a jeepney operator beneficiary from Tunasan, Muntinlupa City said this is his first time to receive such a subsidy from government amid the rising cost of fuel prices.
The LTFRB said by next year, each eligible franchise holder under the Pantawid Pasada Fuel Program is expected to receive P20,514.82 annually.
