QUEZON CITY, June 9 (PIA) -- Twenty beneficiaries of the Government Internship Program will start working at the Navotas City Hall on June 15.
Mayor Toby Tiangco welcomed the GIPs and reminded them of the essence of public service.
“In government service, we are here not just to do our job. We are here to help ease the burden of the people we serve. Let us give the best service we could offer our fellow Navoteños,” Mayor Toby said.
Tiangco also encouraged the GIPs to register and participate in the COVID-19 vaccination program.
“I urge you to get vaccinated so you will be protected from the disease as well as those whom you will encounter while working at the city hall,” he said.
Navotas on Wednesday received an additional 1,600 vials of Sinovac's CoronaVac vaccine, which will be utilized for the first and second doses of A1 to A4 priority groups.
The city government allotted P1.4 million from its Gender and Development fund for the internship program.
GIP beneficiaries included two members of the LGBT community and seven solo parents.
They will work for the city government for six months and receive P537 daily wage. (PIA NCR)
