QC beneficiaries receive livelihood aid from DOLE

CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- Some twenty (20) beneficiaries in Quezon City recently received different livelihood packages worth P323,768.00 from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

 DOLE Secretary Silvestre H. Bello III presided the livelihood awarding ceremony together with DOLE-National Capital Region - Quezon City Field Office Director, Atty. Joel P. Petaca.

 Beneficiaries were composed of senior citizens (3), persons with disabilities (2), and unemployed individuals (15). The livelihood grants awarded to the said beneficiaries consisted of Bigasan Package (1 beneficiary), Nego Cart Package (5 beneficiaries), Baking Package (1 beneficiary), Welding Package (1 beneficiary), Rug Making - High Speed Package (6 beneficiaries), Rug Making - Manual Package (2 beneficiaries), Sari-sari store Package (3 beneficiaries), and e-Loading Package (1 beneficiary).

During the awarding rites, the labor chief said he is hoping that the livelihood assistance will help the beneficiaries, especially during this time of pandemic.

 The Livelihood or Kabuhayan Program of the Department is a grant assistance for capacity building on livelihood and entrepreneurial ventures for vulnerable and marginalized workers.

 It also provides a working capital solely for the purchase of equipment, tools, jigs, and other raw materials to be used in their livelihood undertakings. (DOLE-NCR/PIA-NCR)
