CALOOCAN CITY, (PIA) -- Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade on Wednesday assured all registered public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers would get their fuel subsidies on or before March 25.
Tugade also appealed for their understanding in case they will experience delays in receiving their fuel subsidies, following a series of price increases of petroleum products.
The official said this is part of the expanded program for fuel subsidy being provided to taxi, tricycle and delivery riders drivers.
From March 14 to 18, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said distribution of such assistance has been set for bus and jeepney drivers.
Tugade said for the modern public utility jeepney, the fuel subsidy provided by the government will be enough for 15 days supply, with March 15, 2022 is the basis of the fuel price.
As for the traditional public utility jeepney, the secretary said they will receive the P6,500 assistance computed to last up to 18 days.
On the other hand, Tugade admitted that once there is a fare hike in the face of soaring prices of petroleum products, the country's inflation rate will be affected.
Earlier, some transport groups appealed to be allowed to implement the provisional P1 fare increase in addition to their appeal for a fare increase of up to P5. (PIA-NCR)
