QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — Recognizing the contribution of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Philippines, the Department of Trade and Industry National Capital Regional Office (DTI-NCRO) fully supports the growth of micro entrepreneurs.
During the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas, hosted by Philippine Information Agency-National Capital Region (PIA-NCR) Regional Director Emver Cortez, DTI-NCRO Regional Director Winston Singun shared the department’s “Tindahan Mo e-Level Up Mo!” program which was launched in 2024.
“All over the country, kami ay nag recruit ng sari-sari stores (owners) para mag attend ng mga online learning sessions at meron pang sinasabay doon na partnership with big distributors na pwedeng mag discount selling doon.”
“Ang role ng DTI doon ay either mag recruit nang mag participate nan sari-sari store (owners) or physically dalhin sila sa aming Negosyo Center at doon na sila mag attend ng seminar, at doon na rin magbentahan ng discount selling from the distributors,” explained Singun.
The “Tindahan Mo e-Level Up Mo!” program will equip micro-retailers with digital tools, knowledge, and sustainable practices.
Meanwhile, the DTI-NCRO chief said that they also capacitate MSMEs to ensure them for a continued and timely delivery of goods and services when calamities strike.
“Ito po yung purpose na tinatawag nating business continuity planning or sa ating strengthening disaster resilience initiative.
Singun also shared their ongoing partnership with big malls in Metro Manila.
“Lahat ng malalaking malls, yung mga tenants nilang MSMEs ay mag undergo ng business continuity planning with us. At ang usapan doonn through our MOA with them is 70 percent ng participant ng training ay kanila mga tenants nila, 30 percent naman ipapasok namin, yung mga kliyente namin sa labas.”
He said that the end goal of the business continuity plan is to empower MSMEs and for them to cope with the effects of calamities and disasters.
Based on DTI’s data, over 1.3 million sari-sari stores across the Philippines were recorded in 2024. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
