QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The National Food Authority (NFA) is now purchasing palay from farmers at competitive prices—P24 per kilo for dry palay and P18 per kilo for fresh palay. This initiative aims to encourage farmers to take advantage of the offer.
“Dumiretso lamang kayo sa aming mga warehouse or kung hindi naman magpa-schedule po tayo, minsan talagang napakahaba po ng gustong magbenta,” said Larry Lacson, NFA Administrator.
Lacson highlighted that the NFA’s prices exceed current market rates, noting that fresh palay is being sold for as low as P15 per kilo in some areas.
“Kami P18 kami namimili. At kung dry naman P24 ang bili namin,” he added.
To facilitate small farmers, the NFA has established a fast lane for those selling up to 50 sacks, ensuring a smoother transaction process.
Lacson encouraged farmers to sell directly to the NFA to maximize their earnings.
“Samantalahin po natin ito. Kung may kailangan pa kayong tulong, ipaalam lang po sa amin upang mas mapabuti pa ang ating serbisyo,” he said.
“Punta na po kayo sa NFA at ito po ay gobyerno at atin po ito,” Lacson urged. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
