QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The Department of Transportation announced that they will be offering free Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit-2 (LRT-2) to war veterans from April 5 to 11.

This is in celebration of the 83rd Araw ng Kagitingan and  Philippine Veterans Week with the theme, “Kabayanihan ng Beterano: Sandigan ng Kaunlaran ng Bagong Pilipinas.”

Veterans can avail the complimentary train rides along with one companion.

To enjoy the free rides, veterans must present their valid ID issued by the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO) to the security personnel at each station.

War veterans can access the free MRT-3 rides throughout the train’s operating hours, from 4:30 am to 10:30 pm at North Avenue Station, and from 5:05 am to 11:09 pm at Taft Avenue Station.

On the other hand, free rides on the LRT-2 will likewise be available throughout the day. It will also provide free rides to the public on April 9, from 7 am to 9 am and 5 pm to 7 pm only.

Handog ng MRT-3 ang isang linggong libreng sakay sa kanila at isa nilang companion,” said MRT-3 General Manager Michael J. Capati in a statement.
