QUEZON CITY (PIA)In a show of solidarity and compassion, the Quezon City (QC) Government has extended assistance to residents of Davao Oriental, who were affected by the Oct. 10 magnitude-7.6 earthquake.

With the instruction of Mayor Joy Belmonte, the city sent 500 hygiene kits to the affected families in Mati City, Davao Oriental. The kits include essential hygiene and personal care items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, baby wipes, soap, sanitary napkins, combs, shaving razors, nail cutters, diapers, and portable urinals.

Along with the relief goods, Team QC, composed of 15 personnel from various city departments, was immediately dispatched to Davao Oriental to assist in the ongoing Rapid Disaster Assessment and Needs Analysis (RDANA).

The team includes engineers from the Department of Engineering and the Department of Building Official, as well as members of the Search and Rescue Unit from the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO).

Part of the team’s mission is to help assess the structural integrity of public buildings and ensure the safety of affected communities.

“Sa panahon ng sakuna, QC ang unang rumesponde — may dalang puso, serbisyo, at pag-asa,” the QC government said in a Facebook post.

(In times of disaster, Quezon City is among the first to respond — bringing with it compassion, service, and hope.)

This quick response also underscored the preparedness of Quezon City and its operational readiness in disaster management—an outcome of continuous training, coordination, and capacity-building efforts of its disaster response teams.

Through this assistance, Quezon City reaffirms its commitment to Bayanihan and mutual support, showing that unity among local governments is key in rebuilding communities and strengthening resilience across the country. (AVS / PIA-NCR)
