QUEZON CITY (PIA) — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) again warned the public against fake “work abroad” offers circulating on social media.
In an advisory, DMW urged applicants to be cautious of recruitment posts that promise quick departure, high wages, and easy processes in exchange for large fees.
Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac reminded the public that having an office, a social media page, or foreigners within a group is not enough to claim that it is a legal recruitment agency.
Cacdac noted that applicants should ensure that the recruiter is licensed by the DMW, its personnel are registered, and the recruiter processes a working visa and not a tourist visa.
Likewise, the department advises the public to always check the documents, contracts, and fees, and always ask for official receipts for every transaction.
Cacdac said that any suspicious recruitment activities can be reported to the DMW Anti-Illegal Recruitment and DMW AIRTIP Facebook pages, through the department’s phone numbers 8722-1144 and 8722-1155, or email [mwpb@dmw.gov.ph](mailto:mwpb@dmw.gov.ph) and [airtipinfo@dmw.gov.ph](mailto:airtipinfo@dmw.gov.ph).
