NYC: BBL offers wider opportunities to the youth

QUEZON CITY, June 25 (PIA) --- The Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) will offer  wider opportunities to the youth particularly those that are in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

Usec. Gregorio Ramon 'Gio' Tingson, National Youth Commission (NYC) chairperson, during #PEACEnaPLEASE Youth Ambassadors for Peace workshop, Wednesday at the UP College of Law in Diliman, Quezon City said  the  BBL will help prevent the youth in ARMM  in joining the armed groups as it will offer them wider access to other opportunities.

"If we have the BBL, if we have peace in the region, we know that young people can have access to education, access to jobs, access to other opportunities." Tingson said.

Tingson stressed that the youth in the ARMM have the same hopes and dreams like their counterparts in the other regions of the country.

"Ikinukuwento nila, hindi naman nila pangarap na mag-armas. Ang pangarap nila maging engineer, maging doktor, maging abogado, maging titser. These are the professions that young people in the Bangsamoro are very eager to have."(They (youth in ARMM) were telling that they never planned to be in an armed group. They dream to be engineers, doctors, lawyers, teachers. These are the professions that young people in the Bangsamoro are very eager to have.)

Tingson said  should the BBL be passed,  peace will be achieved in the region, wider opportunities will be offered to the youth, and those who fall victims of conflict will be lessened if not totally eradicated. (PIA-NCR/RJB/SDL)
