US Ambassador to lead movie launch on the importance of ocean

MANILA, 8 June (PIA) – United States Ambassador to the Philippines Philip S. Goldberg will lead a movie launching focusing on the importance of the ocean.

Dubbed “Seeing Blue: an Ocean’s Month Movie Series,” the movie series will be held at the Exploreum, Ground Floor, Southside Entertainment Mall of the SM Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

Ambassador Goldberg will be joined by World Wildlife Fund National Advisory Council Vice Chairman Lory Tan as guest speaker.

The “Seeing Blue” screening series is in partnership with National Geographic Channel Philippines. It will feature the documentary entitled “Alien Deep: Ocean’s Fury” by Dr. Robert Ballard, one of the greatest underwater explorers.

Ballard, who found the Titanic, the Bismarck, the carrier Yorktown and new forms of life. In this film, Dr. Ballard searches for answers as to why the ocean seems to be getting bigger, angrier and more deadly.

The free and by-invitation-only event is part of #1Earth environmental campaign and in support of the U.S. State Department’s efforts for ocean conservation.

The movie series also seeks to stress to the youth the importance of taking care of marine life and coastal environments. Students from various coastal cities in Metro Manila such as Muntinlupa City, Navotas City, Pasay City, and Manila will have the chance to see this film.
