QUEZON CITY, (PIA) -- The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) launched on Friday, December 15, the country’s first and only official online betting platform called “E-Lotto” in a bid to make lottery more accessible to Filipinos anywhere in the world.
The E-Lotto is the digital counterpart of the traditional lottery games that bettors used to carry out in physical outlets.
The said initiative aims to generate and sustain the funds of PCSO for charitable activities while catering to the gaming product needs of people.
“Discover the future of lotto gaming with the launch of E-Lotto – a digital platform that redefines convenience, accessibility, and transparency. Be part of this groundbreaking moment as we revolutionize the way you play and win!,” the PCSO remarked.
During the pandemic, it can be recalled that the sales of lottery tickets went down significantly because of physical constraints.
Through the E-Lotto, the PCSO not only hopes to provide a more convenient gaming experience to Filipino bettors but also increase its revenues up to P70 billion in 2024 from its current P55.3 billion sales in 2023.
This, as the corporation projects to double the number of betters to four (4) million a day from the two (2) million daily betting rate in the country.
The creation of the online gaming system also forms part of the digitalization initiatives of the government which are aimed at curbing the instances of corruption including those that involve the proliferation of illegal lottery games online.
In the continuous promotion of responsible gaming, those who are interested to register in E-Lotto must already be 18 years old and above.
They are also required to use a Philippine-registered mobile phone and SIM card including the participating overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and foreigners who hold a valid government-issued ID from the Philippines.
Once registered, they can also link their electronic wallets (e-wallets) to the E-Lotto mobile application to either pay for their bets or receive their prizes electronically.
Meanwhile, the PCSO happily announced that the minimum jackpot prize of the Grand Lotto 6/55 and Ultra Lotto 6/58 was raised to P500 million each.
In every lotto draw without a designated winner, 22 percent of the ticket sales will be added to the prize pot as part of the corporation’s “Handog Pakabog” Christmas lotto draws this December. (JMP/PIA-NCR)
