PASIG CITY (PIA) — In celebration of the 84th Anniversary of the Day of Valor (Araw ng Kagitingan) and the 2026 Philippine Veterans Week, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) MRT-3 brings free train rides to all Filipino veterans.
According to MRT-3, the Libreng Sakay will start on April 6 (Monday) and continue until April 11, 2026 (Saturday).
The free rides can be availed of during all operating hours of MRT-3 by presenting a Veteran’s ID or any valid ID to station personnel in exchange for a single journey ticket (SJT). Each veteran is also allowed to bring one aide or companion
This initiative is in recognition of the sacrifice and heroism of Filipino veterans for the freedom of the country.
This year’s observance carries the theme “Giting ng Bayani, Pamana sa Salinlahi,” which highlights how the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism demonstrated by Filipino veterans remain a lasting legacy for future generations.
According to the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), the theme emphasizes the importance of remembering and sharing the stories of those who defended the nation so that their values, love of country, resilience, and service continue to inspire Filipinos today and in the years to come.
