MANILA, (PIA) — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has launched an online platform for the Theoretical Driving Course (TDC) required for driver’s license applications, as part of the government’s digitalization efforts.

The Online Theoretical Driving Course (OTDC) program, introduced by LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor D. Mendoza II, aims to provide a flexible and accessible learning experience for individuals, especially professionals and students, who need to balance work or academic commitments.

The implementation of OTDC heralds a significant shift in driving education that will allow individuals the flexibility to pursue this course remotely, within the comfort of their homes, at their own pace, during their free time, at the office, or any location that suits them,” Mendoza said.

The OTDC program also benefits overseas Filipino workers, as applicants can choose the online platform that connects them to LTO-accredited driving schools permitted to operate the online TDC.

Under the new process, applicants will enlist themselves online by filling out the necessary forms and making the online payment. They will then be responsible for completing the TDC program and passing the required exam to receive the certificate from the driving schools when they apply for a student permit.

Mendoza said the LTO is also employing technology-aided solutions to ensure the integrity of the online course, with measures to verify that the person taking the course is the actual driver’s license applicant.

It is imperative that all applicants are made fully aware of this accredited online option, which is designed to enhance the convenience and efficiency of obtaining a Student Driver’s Permit,” Mendoza added.

The LTO chief has directed all personnel to maximize the dissemination of information on the availability of the OTDC through social media and other channels. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
