QUEZON CITY (PIA) – The 2024 Regional Children’s Month Culminating Ceremony brought together advocates, leaders, and young voices from the National Capital Region (NCR) on November 23, 2024, at the RAVE Amphitheater in Pasig City.

The event, organized by the Regional Committee for the Welfare of Children-NCR (RCWC-NCR), focused on this year’s theme, “Break the Prevalence, End the Violence: Protecting Children, Creating a Safe Philippines!” It aims to raise awareness and encourage collaboration to address violence against children.

Andre Jean Salazar, one of NCR’s child representatives, shared his insights during an interview on how he strives to empower his peers, even through small but meaningful ways.

“Naniniwala ako na karapatan din nilang malaman yung mga nararapat na impormasyon tungkol sa kanilang mga karapatan bilang isang bata ( I believe that they also have the right to know about their rights as children),” Salazar expressed, highlighting the importance of education and awareness about children’s rights.

Salazar also stressed the need to use social media as an important tool for reaching and informing more young people in the digital era.

During the event, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Puppet Theater Group entertained the children with their performance of “Ang Tatlong Biik (The Three Little Pigs).” The puppet play gave an important message about the value of intelligent, practical hard work, showing that dedication will pay off in the end. It also highlighted the need to care for family and friends, reiterating core values that foster a supportive and responsible community. (GLDG/PIA-NCR)
