Dr. Jaime C. Montoya, Executive Director of DOST-PCHRD, emphasized the organization’s dedication to ensuring research initiatives improve healthcare, inform policies and drive sustainable development.

Our theme, ‘Building a healthier and wealthier future: Advancing research utilization for greater impact,’ underscores our collective commitment to transforming health research into meaningful solutions that uplift lives and drives economic progress,” he added.

Montoya said the theme also underlines DOST-PCHRD’s commitment to ensuring that research leads to real-world applications that enhance public health and economic well-being.

The anniversary event, graced by DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. and Department of Health Secretary Ted Herbosa (virtually), aims to bridge the gap between scientific research and practical applications.

Discussions focus on intellectual property management, research-to-policy translation and strategies to improve health research utilization.

Montoya highlighted the crucial role of researchers, policymakers, healthcare professionals and industry leaders in transforming research findings into meaningful change.

We are honored to hold discussions that highlight the importance of research utilization in setting the directions, policies and programs for sustainable health improvements and innovations,” he said.

In his message delivered partly in Filipino, Montoya reaffirmed the council’s commitment to making health research an instrument for national development.

Let us unite in continuing to use science and technology for a more vibrant and progressive future, where the benefits of health research are felt by every Filipino,” he said.

Established on March 17, 1982, through Executive Order No. 784, DOST-PCHRD serves as the national coordinating body for health research by virtue of Republic Act 10053, also known as the Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Act.
