MANILA, June 29 (PIA) – The Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene, better known as Quiapo Church, unveiled a life-size statue of San Juan Bautista or St. John the Baptist.
Created by veteran sculptor Eduardo Castrillo, the life-size statue was unveiled during the feast day of St. John the Baptist last June 24, coinciding with the 444th founding anniversary of the City of Manila.
The statue, unveiled by retired Manila Archbishop Gaudencio B. Rosales, is a joint project of the minor basilica and Ateneo de Manila’s Seminario de San José.
According to the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), the statue is dedicated to all devotees of the Black Nazarene. (CBCP/RJB/JEG/PIA-NCR)
