QUEZON CITY, Sept. 16 (PIA) --- The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board, chaired by President Benigno S. Aquino III recently approved five (5) new infrastructure projects.
During the Board’s meeting held 4 September 2015, the following projects were approved:
In Metro Manila, construction of the 19-kilometer LRT Line 6 rail project with an estimated cost of PhP 64.71 billion will connect Niyog, Bacoor and Dasmarinas City in Cavite and will travel across through seven stations: Niyog, Imus, Tirona, Daang Hari, Salitran, Congressional Avenue and Governor’s Drive.
LRT Line 4 that involves the financing, design, construction, operations and maintenance of an 11-kilometer rail that will run west from SM City Taytay to the intersection of Ortigas Avenue and EDSA, estimated project cost is PhP 42.9 billion.
NEDA said both LRT Lines 6 and 4 will be undertaken under Public-Private Partnership program that cover the provision of railway infrastructure, stations, depots, rolling stock, signaling, electrification and communication, automated fare collection system, and other necessary equipment.
Part of the approved projects is construction of the Department of Transportation and Communications’ (DOTC) Clark International Airport’s new Passenger Terminal Building as well as the installation of supplementary equipment, machinery, and facilities that will support the operations of the building. The project has an estimated cost of PhP15.35 billion and will be locally-financed.
The Naga Airport Development Project that involves the reorientation of the runway and construction of new landside and airside facilities. It also involves the construction of a new airport in the same location as the existing Naga Airport, and will provide engineering solutions to its present limitations. The project will be locally-financed and has an estimated cost of PhP3.53 billion.
Also included among the approved projects is the Access to Sustainable Energy Program of the Department of Energy that will provide at least 100,000 Filipino households with access to electricity and energy services through a grant assistance for solar home systems and rural power generation facilities is also included in the approved projects. It has an estimated project cost of PhP4.89 billion and will be financed through Official Development Assistance. (NEDA/RJB/MAPA/PIA-NCR)
