CALOOCAN CITY, 31 March (PIA) – President Benigno S. Aquino III yesterday led the inauguration of two new school buildings in Caloocan City.
President Aquino was greeted by students, teachers and school officials of the Grace Park Elementary School-Main led by its school principal Dr. Delia C. Martin.
He was also welcomed by Caloocan officials led by Mayor Oscar Malapitan and Congressman Edgar Erice, along with Interior and Local Government Secretary Mel Sarmiento, Education Secretary Armin Luistro and Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) chairman Cristino Naguiat.
President Aquino led the unveiling of the school markers and inspection of the two new school buildings which is part of PAGCOR’s “Matuwid na Daan sa Silid-Aralan” project, in partnership with the Department of Education and the Department of Public Works and Highways.
The President said that the school building project is aimed at strengthening the education sector in the country.
He thanked PAGCOR chief Naguiat for the P12-billion allotment for the nationwide school building project which was the result of PAGCOR’s prudent management of funds and transparency in the agency’s operation.
"DepEd ang tumutukoy sa mga paaralan na kailangan pa ng mga klasrum, PAGCOR ang magpopondo, DPWH naman ang nagpapatayo ng mga gusali. Mula 2011 hanggang 2015, nakapaglaan ang PAGCOR ng P12 bilyon para sa nasa 6,500 na silid-aralan," President Aquino said. (RJB/JEG/PIA-NCR)
