MANILA, Nov. 16 (PIA) – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recently received special guests in their headquarters as part of its community relations service.
Some 500 kindergarten students, together with their guardians and faculty staff of the Miriam College Child Study Center in Quezon City visited the PCG Headquarters last Friday in Manila for an educational tour.
Personnel from the coast guard conducted a shipboard familiarization aboard BRP Tubbataha (MRRV-4001) and BRP Davao del Norte (SARV-3504). The visitors were also given a lecture on the Flag Semaphore as one the means of maritime communication using hand-held flags.
Likewise, the kids had the chance to have a photo with PCG’s mascot ‘Kapitan Dolpino.’ The Philippine Coast Guard is hosting educational tour as part of its community relations service to the public to increase their awareness on the role of the coast guard, as well as the importance of promoting and maintaining maritime safety, and marine environmental protection in the country.
