QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that the government will implement a “stop-and-go” traffic scheme along select roads in Pasay, Manila, and Makati next week to facilitate the 2024 Asia-Pacific Ministerial Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (APMC DRR) at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

In an advisory issued by the MMDA, it said the traffic scheme will be in effect along key routes from the airport to accommodation hotels in the affected cities, extending to the PICC and the nearby Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex. This traffic management strategy will be implemented from October 12 to 19.

Additionally, Magdalena Jalandoni Street, located between Star City and the PICC at the CCP complex, will be closed to vehicular traffic from October 14 to 19.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly, using alternate routes to avoid congestion during this period.

The APMC DRR is being organized by the Philippine government in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, highlighting the nation’s commitment to addressing disaster resilience in the Asia-Pacific region. (GLG/PIA-NCR)
