QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) urges consumers to exercise caution when purchasing Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders, particularly during the holiday season when many are preoccupied with festive activities and celebrations to avoid potential accidents.
According to DTI, LPG cylinders are prone to explosion due to mishandling, leakage, uncertified or substandard, and old or damaged LPG cylinders.
To avoid such accidents and to safeguard the purchase of high-quality LPG cylinders, the department advises consumers to ensure that the LPG cylinder has a Philippine Standard (PS) mark with PS License No. and required markings by the Philippine National Standards that are stamped on the footring or collar of the cylinder.
Consumers are also reminded to purchase only LPG cylinders that underwent the certification process of DTI’s Bureau of Philippine Standards and always check on the PS Quality Certification Mark with PS License number or serial number for Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) certification.
