QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is all set for the upcoming midterm polls on May 12, 2025.

On Sunday the NCRPO officially launched the Nationwide COMELEC Checkpoints to mark the start of an intensified campaign to ensure a safe, secure, and orderly election period.

The NCRPO is fully committed to ensuring that this election period is marked by peace, order, and security. Through these checkpoints, we will uphold the law and maintain the sanctity of the electoral process,” said NCRPO chief PBGen Anthony A. Aberin.

According to NCRPO, the strategically placed checkpoints across the country will serve as a vital tool for enforcing election laws, particularly the prohibition of firearms and other security measures. The checkpoints aim to create an environment where voters can exercise their rights freely and without fear by mitigating potential threats.

Likewise, COMELEC Chair Garcia highlighted the critical role of partnerships between law enforcement and the commission in fostering accountability and trust.

The launch was graced by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief PGen Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Commission on Elections (COMELEC) Chair George Erwin M. Garcia, Commissioner Aimee P. Ferolino, Regional Election Director for NCR Jumil Surmieda, and PNP TADCO PMGen Robert Rodriguez. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
