QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — A new fire station will soon rise inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) reservation’s Katarungan Village in Muntinlupa City.
This was after a groundbreaking ceremony was held within the reservation’s 100-hectare housing project being developed by the Department of Justice.
The event was led by Muntinlupa City Mayor Ruffy Biazon, Fire Supt. Rowena Gollod of the Muntinlupa City Fire Station, and Enrico Turingan Jr., president of the Katarungan Village Homeowners Association, among others.
The establishment of the fire station is expected to improve the city’s capacity to respond to emergencies more effectively, according to officials from the Muntinlupa City Fire Station.
Gollod, who made history as Muntinlupa’s first female fire marshal in March 2024, has been pivotal in transforming the fire station’s operations. Under her leadership, the Muntinlupa City Fire Station became the first to fully utilize local funds generated from fire code fees.
The fire station has recently acquired a 1,000-gallon fire truck, alongside advanced rescue and medical equipment, further bolstering its emergency response capability.
The fire station also implemented the formation and training of Sitio Community Fire Auxiliary Groups (CFAGs) in fire-prone areas, which serve as initial responders to disasters while awaiting trained personnel.
In the past year, the fire station has received accolades, including being named the Best City Fire Station, the Best Performing City Fire Station, and recognized for the most significant improvements in reducing fire incidents.
The fire station has also been commended by the Muntinlupa City government for its innovative Sitio CFAG program and the successful recertification of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
The new fire station is anticipated to play a crucial role in safeguarding the community and enhancing fire safety measures in Muntinlupa City. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
