MANILA, (PIA) — The Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF), in partnership with 2GO, the country’s leading logistics and passenger transport provider, successfully transported a mobile water treatment plant (MTP) to communities impacted by the recent eruption of Mt. Kanlaon.

The MTP, deployed by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), was delivered to several barangays in Negros Oriental.

This portable water purification system is crucial for providing clean drinking water to communities facing shortages due to the disaster, helping to mitigate health risks associated with contaminated water and inadequate sanitation.

Utilizing its extensive logistics network, 2GO efficiently transported the MTP from Manila to Bacolod, ensuring timely arrival for immediate deployment.

The company also provided accommodations for personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to facilitate effective on-ground relief operations.

Susana Quiambao, Chief of the OCD Response and Operations Coordination Division, emphasized the importance of partnerships between private sector entities and government agencies.

This collaborative effort exemplifies the importance of strong partnerships in delivering life-saving interventions to disaster-affected areas,” she said.

As the only integrated solutions provider offering simultaneous freight and sea travel services from Manila to Bacolod, 2GO plays a vital role in connecting communities, especially during critical relief operations.

We are always ready to mobilize our resources to support the men and women of our armed forces as they serve our fellow Filipinos,” said Ethel Concepcion, 2GO Head of Corporate Marketing and Communications. “Providing swift and reliable logistical solutions during times of crisis is part of our unwavering commitment to national service.”

Through this coordinated effort, PDRF and 2GO reaffirm their commitment to disaster resilience, ensuring that affected communities receive immediate and sustainable support. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
