Health folders of ISF relocatees assured – DOH-NCR

MANDALUYONG CITY, November 12, (PIA) - - The Department of Health – National Capital Region (DOH-NCR) gave its assurance that informal settlers (ISFs) who will be relocated will get their medical folder before going to their designated relocation site.

This was stressed by DOH-NCR Regional Director Eduardo Janairo to the families of informal settlers in Barangays Tatalon and Roxas in Quezon City who will be affected by the relocation program of the government.

“We encourage the affected families to have their medical and physical check- up first so that we will be able to provide them with their family health folders before going to their new homes,” Regional Director Eduardo C. Janairo stated.

The health folder contains all the vital information and medical health records of each member of the family. It helps keep track of medications, monitor health progress and schedules for medical check-ups. It also serves as quick information to medical and social service providers that can save a person’s life, especially in emergency cases.

According to Director Janairo a health worker can determine and provide the proper treatment and care for a patient with the aid of the health folder because it contains the person’s data, records of medical history, medication list and health screening results.

The family medical folder will then be endorsed to the regional health office, local government unit and barangay health center concern where they will be transferred. This will be their permanent health record and will serve as reference for health service providers.

Aside from the folder, the DOH-NCR also provides health kits containing basic first aid materials and medicines such as povidine iodine, alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, loratidine, oresol, band aid, cottol rolls, gloves, absorbent gauze, scissors, soap, hypoallergenic tape and a flashlight.

The 56 families in Brgy. Tatalon and 16 families in Brgy. Roxas will be moved to San Jose Heights, in Brgy. Muzon, San Jose Del Monte in Bulacan. Recent relocatees of the place came from San Juan, Pasay City and the City of Manila.

The Oplan Likas Program is a major government program resettling thousands of ISFs living in most flood-prone zones to a safe and healthy community outside Metro Manila.

The activity is a joint project of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Social Welfare and Development – NCR (DSWD-NCR), Quezon City Health Office, and the National Housing Authority (NHA). (RJB/LFB/CHD-NCR/PIA-NCR)
