MANILA, (PIA) — Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Teodoro Herbosa announced that senior citizens will no longer need to present a purchase booklet to receive discounts on their medication.
This change is part of Administrative Order No. 2024-0017, signed by Herbosa, which implements the Expanded Senior Citizens Act of 2010.
The act aims to provide ample benefits for senior citizens in the Philippines, including discounts, free medical services, pensions, and other forms of assistance.
“As a senior citizen myself, I understand how difficult it is to always carry a purchase booklet. Seniors need discounts on their medications, and we should make it easier for them to access those benefits,” Herbosa said.
“In the name of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., we at the DOH are offering this gift of convenience and more affordable medication to all our senior citizens. Merry Christmas!” he added.
Under the new guidelines, seniors will now only need to present a valid ID and a doctor’s prescription to avail of discounts on their medicines at pharmacies. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
