PNP to impose gun ban, liquor ban starting Jan. 8

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that the gun ban will be in effect within the entire City of Manila in celebration of the feast of the Nazareno on Jan. 9, Thursday.

According to the PNP, the city-wide gun ban will start on Jan. 8 (12:01 AM) until Jan. 11 (12:01 AM).

The suspension of permit to carry firearms outside residence (PTCFOR) within the City of Manila will take effect from 12:01 AM of Jan. 8 up to 12:01 AM of Jan. 11.

Likewise, a liquor ban will be implemented within the 500-meter radius within the vicinity of Quirino Grandstand and Quiapo Church.

The liquor ban will also take effect on Jan. 8 (7:00 AM) until Jan. 10 (7:00 AM).



Authorities also said that a ‘No Fly Zone’ and ‘No Drone Zone’ within the Quirino Grandstand and Quiapo Church, as well as all routes of procession, will be implemented from Jan. 8 to Jan. 10.

Also, from Jan. 8 (12:00 AM) until Jan. 10 (12:00 AM), the PNP will implement a ‘No Sail Zone’ at the vicinity waters off South Harbor Manila (near Quirino Grandstand) and Pasig River.

Earlier, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) appealed to devotees to observe a solemn and peaceful celebration of the Nazareno on Jan. 9. (JEG/PIA-NCR)
