By Emver Cortez

QUEZON CITY, March 21 (PIA) -- The City Health Office (CHO) and the local government of Marikina issued Philippine Health Insurance (PhilHealth) cards to its constituents to ensure their health and well being.

Marikina City Mayor Del de Guzman said under the program, the local government will distribute 3,000 government-sponsored PhilHealth cards which can be used when the owner or beneficiary is hospitalized.

Each card will be usable for one year and can be renewed annually.

“Being members of PhilHealth will be a big help to our constituents, especially to those who are sick as they will receive discounts in hospital fees,” De Guzman said.

PhilHealth card distribution was held on March 20 at Bulelak covered courts in Barangay Malanday where 2,000 cards were given to its residents.

De Guzman added that distribution to Barangay Tumana is scheduled on March 21 and distribution to barangays Concepcion Uno, Parang, and Nangka is scheduled on March 26.

“Even being members of PhilHealth, we still advise everyone that prevention is better than cure. When not feeling well, immediately visit the health center,” De Guzman added.(Marikina-PIO/RJB/EPC-PIA NCR)
